Season Ends for FSU Soccer, Volleyball

Florida State watched both its soccer and volleyball seasons end on Friday night in the NCAA Tournament.

FSU’s bid to repeat as national soccer champions ended two wins shy as the Seminoles were blanked by Duke 2-0 in the College Cup in Cary, North Carolina on Friday. Duke’s Kayla McCoy scored in the 32nd minute to snap the FSU streak of 10 straight NCAA Tournament games without allowing a goal.

FSU doubled up on Duke in terms of shots on goal, 16-8 on the night, but never could find the back of the net. Toni Payne put the exclamation point on the Blue Devils’ victory with an insurance goal in the final seconds. The Seminoles finish the season 18-3-4.

After taking down Arizona State in straight sets on Thursday night, the Florida State volleyball team fell to rival Florida 3-1 on Friday. The Seminoles took the first set 25-23, but dropped the final three 19-25, 23-25, 19-25.

Carli Snyder and Ziva Recek each had 16 kills for the Gators while Mackenzie Dagostino finished with a match-high 49 assists. Hailey Luke led the Seminoles with 26 assists. Nicole Walch topped FSU with 19 kills.

Florida State finishes the volleyball season with a record of 25-8.
