Seminoles Remain Second in Polls

Florida State remained second in both major polls on Sunday following Saturday’s dramatic 31-27 win over fifth-ranked Notre Dame.

Mississippi State held on to the top spot in both polls. The Bulldogs expanded their lead over Florida State in the Coaches Poll despite being idle, but saw Florida State cut into its lead in the AP Poll.

In the AP Poll, the Seminoles were joined in the top 5 by four SEC West schools. Ole Miss is third, followed by Alabama and Auburn.

The only difference in the top 5 of the Coaches Poll was Michigan State, who was fifth. The Spartans sit just ahead of Auburn.

After losing to the Seminoles, Notre Dame took only a slight hit. The Fighting Irish entered Saturday’s contest sitting at #5 in each poll. Notre Dame is now seventh in the AP Poll and eighth in the Coaches.

The highest ranked team to lose on Saturday was fourth-ranked Baylor. The Bears fell to 12th in the AP Poll and 13th in the Coaches after being upset by West Virginia.

Clemson remained the only other ACC team in the top 25, after holding off Boston College 17-13. The Tigers rank 20th in the Coaches Poll and 21st in the AP Poll.

Duke however, received the most votes of any unranked team in the AP Poll.
