FSU Football Player of the Week: Jameis Winston

The Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 2 goes to sophomore quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston. Winston was stellar on Saturday as #1 Florida State downed The Citadel 37-12 to set a new school-record with 18 consecutive victories.

In the victory, Winston complete 22 of his 27 pass attempts for 256 yards and a pair of scores. Winston found Jesus Wilson and Nick O’Leary for touchdowns and did not have a single turnover on the evening. Winston would lead scoring drives on each of his six possessions under center and helped the Seminoles build a 34-0 lead before backup Sean Maguire took over.

In two games this season, Winston has a completion percentage of over 70, more than 600 yards passing and four total touchdowns. The Seminoles and their super sophomore will have this week off before a critical ACC showdown with Clemson on September 20th.
