FSU Football Player of the Week: Derwin James

Florida State dominated on both sides of the ball on Saturday in a 52-13 thrashing of FCS opponent Chattanooga. The lopsided victory allowed a number of freshmen to see the field, but perhaps the best day for any Seminole belonged to a freshman who started.

Safety Derwin James if the Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 12 after tallying 10 total tackles on Saturday, including seven solo stops and a tackle for loss. A 5-star recruit out of Haines City, James was projected to play right away, but to many, he has exceeded where he was projected to be at this point in the season.

James ranks second on the team this season with 68 total tackles. He’s also second in tackles for loss with three and in forced fumbles with two. James and the Seminoles will face rival Florida on Saturday night in Gainesville.
