FSU Basketball Player of the Week: Xavier Rathan-Mayes

Florida State’s run in the ACC Tournament may have lasted just two days, but for one Seminole making his first appearance in the ACC tourney, it was one to remember.

Redshirt freshman guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes is the Florida State Basketball Player of the Week for the week of March 9th through the 15th for his play in Greensboro.

In two ACC Tournament games, Rathan-Mayes averaged 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Rathan-Mayes shot 17-for-37 from the field over the two games.

In Wednesday’s 76-73 win over Clemson, Rathan-Mayes scored 30 points on 11-for-19 shooting. It marked the third time this season that Rathan-Mayes scored at least 30 points in a contest.

Rathan-Mayes didn’t have quite the same kind of performance the following day against top-seeded Virginia, but still led the Seminoles with 13 points.

For the season, Rathan-Mayes led the Seminoles with 14.9 points and 4.3 assists-per-game. FSU finishes the 2014-15 season with a record of 17-16.
