For the third time in three series, Florida State dropped the opener and for the third time in three series, the Seminoles won the final two games to take the set. Florida State won in dramatic fashion on Sunday as FSU rallied from four runs down for a walk-off win. After edging Alabama State earlier in the week, Florida State is now 22-7 on the year and 9-3 in ACC play. Despite winning the home series against Virginia Tech, the Seminoles fell to two games back of Atlantic division-leading Louisville.

Friday, March 27th
Virginia Tech used a 5-run seventh to break a 2-2 tie on Friday and take the series-opener in Tallahassee. Erik Payne plated three runs for the Hokies in the victory while Saige Jenco and Rahiem Cooper each homered in the win. Danny De La Calle left the yard for the Seminoles and Chris Marconcini had two of the six FSU hits. Virginia Tech starting pitcher Sean Keselica picked up the win by allowing two runs on just four hits in seven innings.

Saturday, March 28th
After Virginia Tech scored three runs in the top of the 8th to cut the lead to one, Florida State put the game away by scoring 11 runs in the bottom half of the inning, including seven before the Hokies could record an out. John Sansone was 3-for-3 with three runs scored for the Seminoles while Hank Truluck plated three FSU runs. Taylor Walls, Dylan Busby, Josh Delph and Danny De La Calle each drove in a pair for Florida State. Infielders Brendon Hayden and Alex Perez each scored three runs for Virginia Tech in the loss.

Sunday, March 29th
A throwing error in the bottom of the 9th by Virginia Tech second baseman Alex Perez allowed the winning run to score as Florida State overcame a 5-1 deficit to take the series. Josh Delph’s infield single looked to have tied the game, but the throwing error allowed Dylan Busby to score the winning run for the Seminoles. Delph, Quincy Nieporte and John Sansone each had two hits for FSU. Sansone scored twice while Nieporte and Delph each drove in runs. Though his throwing error allowed the winning run to score, Perez had a great day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored. Sean Keselica plated three runs for the Hokies in the loss. Billy Strode pitched a scoreless inning to earn the win for FSU.
