Seminoles and Eagles Split Midweek Set

After a productive week that propelled Florida State into the top 10 of the D1Baseball.com poll, the Seminoles met Florida Gulf Coast for a brief 2-game set at Dick Howser Stadium. The teams wound up splitting the mini series with each team pitching a shutout. The Seminoles now sit at 26-9 for the season. Florida State will have a day off before resuming ACC play on Friday against Notre Dame in South Bend.

Tuesday, April 7th

Bryant Holtmann tossed eight scoreless innings for Florida State, allowing seven hits and two walks to pick up his team-high tying fifth win of the season. Josh Delph and D.J. Stewart each had three hits and a RBI for FSU in the victory. Delph also scored a pair of runs. Designated hitter Brady Anderson had three of Florida Gulf Coast’s seven hits.

Wednesday, April 8th

Florida State had no answer for the Florida Gulf Coast pitching as the Seminoles were blanked for the first time this season. Starter Nick Deckert allowed three hits and three walks in 5 1/3 shutout innings to earn the win for the Eagles. Nick Rivera homered and drove in a pair of runs while scoring two more in the FGCU victory. Shortstop Taylor Walls had two of the seven hits for FSU.
