FSU Baseball Player of the Week: Chris Marconcini

It was a perfect week for Florida State as the Seminoles defeated Florida on Tuesday before completing a 3-game sweep of Pittsburgh over the weekend. The Seminoles scored 31 runs over the four games with one player being responsible for driving in 13 of them.

First baseman Chris Marconcini is the Florida State Baseball Player of the Week for the week of April 13th through the 19th after his best week as a Seminole.

Entering the week, Marconcini had homered just once for FSU, but left the yard in each of the Seminoles’ four games this past week including twice against Pittsburgh on Friday. Marconcini finished the week 7-for-15 at the dish with five home runs, 13 RBIs and five runs scored.

Quincy Nieporte was the hero in Tuesday’s 4-3 12-inning victory over Florida, but Nieporte’s heroics may not have been possible without Marconcini’s solo home run that tied the game at 3 in the bottom of the 8th.

On Friday, Marconcini went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and 6 RBIs. Marconcini put the exclamation point on the 15-2 victory over Pittsburgh with a grand slam in the eighth inning.

A senior transfer from Duke, Marconcini seems to be settling in for FSU. After the big week, the left-handed first baseman is hitting .260 for the season with 6 home runs and 22 RBIs.

The Seminoles will again play four games this week. FSU hosts Stetson on Tuesday before opening a 3-game set at rival Miami on Friday.
