Share Your Seminole Story: FSU Inspired Names

In this week’s installment of “Share Your Seminole Story”, we asked our fans and readers if they had a child or pet whose named was inspired by Florida State University or FSU athletics.

From the Staff
My dog is named Doak, obviously for Doak Campbell Stadium. My wife and I picked her up from the SPCA in Orlando the day after Bobby Bowden’s final game as the head man of Florida State. She’s been a very good dog.

I’m expecting my second child in March (a girl) and we’re naming her Greenly (not set on the spelling just yet) Hope Ferguson. My wife believes we’re continuing some family tradition since she was named after a character on “All My Children” and that’s a current character. The middle name Hope is because our first daughter, Trinity, has Love as her middle name, so Hope and Love seem compatible.

The truth (as I see it) is this upcoming child will be named after Florida State’s all-time leading receiver, Rashad Greene, and former FSU safety Chris Hope. My wife will think she picked the name, but we’ll all know the truth.

I just got a puppy the other day and I named him Doak, everyone thinks it’s odd, unless they are Noles. It was either Winston or Doak but I have had too many great times at Doak and wanted it to be unique.

My dog’s name is Bowden. We are huge Bobby Bowden fans. We’ve had this dog for about eight years now! Bobby is a legend!

Lawrence Dawsey is a former Florida State receiver and currently coaches that position for FSU.

After Chief Osceola.

Popular pick.

As was quarterback Jameis Winston, he sounds like a winner.

Great names.

People will know this young man was raised right.
