In this week’s edition of “Share Your Seminole Story”, we asked readers and followers which football program they would like to see Florida State play a home-and-home against.

There are a number of football programs that it would be fun to watch Florida State take on for a home-and-home. Alabama would certainly be intriguing as Jimbo Fisher would be taking on his former boss in Nick Saban. Georgia has always seemed like a natural opponent for FSU. But the team I would like to see the Seminoles exchange home games with would be Tennessee.
No, I’m not still bitter about the national title game following the 1998 season, but the idea of FSU heading to Neyland Stadium and the Volunteers coming to Doak Campbell is exciting. Tennessee has been down for a while, but they’re not in a situation all that different from the one Florida State was in just five or six years ago.
It usually takes a few years to get the teams together on the field once the home-and-home gets scheduled and who knows how good Tennessee or FSU for that matter, might be by then. Plus, I’ve always wanted to take a trip to Neyland Stadium. This would be the perfect excuse.

There are an abundance of choices that would make for marquee match-ups against FSU in the future. Off the top of my head I can think of several major programs: Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, LSU, Auburn and Oregon (I would not mind a rematch) just to name a few. But I think one key component to the question is playing in each other’s stadiums. I believe that the teams mentioned above would be played in a Labor Day opening game much like Oklahoma State last season. One component I thought of is both where I would like to visit and what could possibly help us with recruiting. Of other less marquee programs that I would like to see us play are as follows: Washington, Tennessee, Texas A&M, perhaps even Arizona. One place that I see as doable for the question is Penn State. I’m almost positive this would help both programs and as a fan I would be interested in seeing Happy Valley and I am sure the media could play up the match-up as an old school “rivalry” that Joe Pa and Bobby Bowden once had to break Bear Bryant’s record. A couple more notes I intentionally omitted both Alabama (we’re playing them soon) and USC (I remember playing them as a kid and the logistics of getting to Los Angeles from Florida is pretty bad). Also I would have mentioned the Baylor Bears as I also believe this would be mutually beneficial for both programs but it seems as they have not caught on to the fact that they have become a decent program and have their heads in the sand as far as non-conference scheduling goes. Seriously look at it if you want to laugh.
