Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week: Tyler Holt

Florida State may be off to a solid start through 21 games on the diamond, but a number of former ‘Noles are making their presences felt in spring training.

The Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of March 9th through the 15th is Cleveland Indians’ outfielder Tyler Holt. Holt played in just three games this week in the Cactus League, but made a big impact.

In three games, Holt went 3-for-7 at the plate — good for a .429 batting average. Among Holt’s three hits were a double and a triple.

The former Seminoles’ leadoff man also scored three runs this week and plated a pair. In Tuesday’s 10-6 win over the Chicago Cubs, Holt was a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs.

Holt is among many players fighting for a roster spot and in eight games this spring, Holt is hitting .333 with 6 runs scored, 7 RBIs and an outstanding .455 on-base percentage. Holt has a career average of .268 in 36 big league games.
