Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week: Sean Gilmartin

The baseball season may be over for Florida State, but a former Seminole pitcher picked up his first big league win this week.

The Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of June 8th through the 14th goes to New York Mets’ rookie reliever Sean Gilmartin.

In three appearances this week, Gilmartin threw four scoreless innings without giving up a hit and allowed just a single walk. Gilmartin picked up his first career win Sunday in a 10-8 victory over the Atlanta Braves by throwing two scoreless innings of relief.

On the season, Gilmartin has been outstanding for the Mets with a 1-0 record and a 2.01 ERA in 24 appearances.

John Gast allowed just a run on six hits for the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific Coast League in a 3-2 victory over the Round Rock Express on Thursday to earn his third win of the year.

Brooks Koepka (PGA)
Brooks Koepka finished tied for third at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis at -8. Koepka led after two rounds during the tournament.

Buster Posey, C San Francisco Giants (MLB)
Buster Posey hit .381 in six games this week for the San Francisco Giants, going 8-for-21 with four doubles and five RBIs.
