Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week: Devon Travis

For a second straight week, the top professional athlete from Florida State comes on the minor league diamond. The Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of July 14th through the 20th goes to Detroit Tigers’ farm-hand and former FSU second baseman, Devon Travis.

In six games for the Double-A Erie SeaWolves this week, Travis hit .435, going 10-for-23 at the dish. Travis not only hit in every game, but the former Seminole star also scored four runs and drove in five more. In a 5-2 win over the Akron RubberDucks on Sunday, Travis had a pair of hits including a three-run homer.

On the season, Travis is now hitting just below .300 at .299, has scored 43 runs and drove in 29 more. Travis has also been one of the Eastern League’s most productive second basemen and may not be that far away from seeing the big leagues.
