Game Balls: FSU-Louisville

Florida State picked up its 30th straight regular season victory on Saturday with a 41-21 win over Louisville. The No. 11 Seminoles improved to 6-0 on the season and 4-0 in ACC play thanks to a number of strong performances. To highlight the FSU players who stood out most on Saturday, the Noled Out staff hands out their game balls:

Offense

Mike Ferguson’s Game Ball: Everett Golson, QB
Florida State senior quarterback Everett Golson passed for 372 yards against Louisville on Saturday — the second highest total of his career and highest as a Seminole. Golson went 26-for-38 passing with three touchdowns, giving him 11 for the season without an interception.

Clint Eiland’s Game Ball: Kermit Whitfield, WR
Junior wide receiver Kermit Whitfield showed off his speed and elusiveness on Saturday, finishing with nine catches for 172 yards — both game and career-highs — and the 70-yard third quarter touchdown that put the Seminoles ahead for good. Whitfield leads the Seminoles with 397 yards receiving this season.

Jon Marchant’s Game Ball: Dalvin Cook, RB
Sophomore running back Dalvin Cook continues to be spectacular for FSU. In Saturday’s victory over Louisville, Cook accounted for 223 yards of offense and a pair of rushing touchdowns. Cook rushed for 163 yards on 22 carries, including a 54-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the second half. Cook also caught four passes for 60 yards. Cook has 955 yards rushing for the year.

Defense

Unanimous Game Ball: Jacob Pugh, LB
Used mostly as a defensive end, sophomore Jacob Pugh was a force to be reckoned with for FSU on Saturday. Pugh finished the contest with a team-high seven tackles, including six solo stops and a pair of sacks.

Special Teams

Unanimous Game Ball: Roberto Aguayo, K
Florida State junior kicker Roberto Aguayo was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goal attempts on Saturday, making from 43 and 32 yards out. Aguayo also made good on all five of his extra point attempts and had two kickoffs go for touchbacks.
