FSU Football Player of the Week: Mario Edwards Jr.

Despite a career-high 13 receptions from wide receiver Rashad Greene on Saturday night, the Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 11 goes to junior defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. for his performance in Saturday’s 34-20 win over Virginia.

Prior to Saturday, Edwards had not lived to his preseason All-American hype, but was a man on a mission in the Seminoles’ homecoming victory over the Cavaliers. Edwards dominated from the start, forcing Virginia running back Kevin Parks to fumble on Virginia’s first play from scrimmage which led to a FSU touchdown.

Before the night was over, Edwards had recorded nine tackles, four for loss and a sack as the Seminoles secured a 25th straight victory. Of Edwards’ nine tackles, seven were solo stops. The junior from Texas now has three sacks on the year.
