FSU Football Player of the Week: Eddie Goldman

While Sean Maguire passed for 305 yards in his first career start, the Florida State football player of the week for Week 4 comes on the defensive side of the ball. While he netted just two tackles, no player was more important with the game on the line in Saturday’s 23-17 overtime win over Clemson than defensive tackle Eddie Goldman.

With the game tied at 17 and under two minutes to play on Saturday, Clemson was in the red zone, facing a 2nd-and-1. On a give to Clemson running back C.J. Davidson, Goldman was able to get a hand on the football, forcing a fumble which the Seminoles recovered, giving FSU new life.

In overtime, Goldman recorded a sack and on 4th-and-1, Goldman got penetration which forced Clemson’s Adam Choice to the outside where Reggie Northrup and Chris Casher combined to stop him short of the first down. The Seminoles scored on the second play of their overtime possession to walk away with a 23-17 victory.
