FSU Football Player of the Week: Cason Beatty

The Florida State defense was outstanding on Friday night, but it was a special teams player that was perhaps most special in the Seminoles’ 14-0 victory over Boston College to open ACC play.

Senior punter Cason Beatty is the Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 3 after helping FSU win the field position battle on a night when points were hard to come by.

Though he’s been maligned for much of his career, Beatty was invaluable on Friday. Beatty averaged better than 52 yards-per-punt on seven punts including a 58-yard kick that was downed at the FSU 1-yard-line. Four of Beatty’s seven punts were downed inside the 20.

After a largely inconsistent career, Beatty looks to finally be emerging as a senior. For the year, Beatty is averaging 44.6 yards-per-punt, which ranks third in the ACC.
