After dropping three of four, Florida State was back to its winning ways this week. The Seminoles began a 14-game homestand on Wednesday with a 10-7 victory over Jacksonville. Florida State was able to keep the momentum as it swept a very competitive weekend series over UNC-Wilmington, taking the three games by a combined four runs. FSU is now 8-3 on the season and a perfect 6-0 at home. The ‘Noles will face South Florida for a brief 2-game set beginning Tuesday before opening up ACC play next weekend versus Boston College.

Friday, February 27th
D.J. Stewart’s solo home run in the seventh inning was the difference on Friday as the Seminoles defeated UNC-Wilmington is the series-opener. FSU raced to a 3-1 lead behind a 2-run single by Dylan Busby in the first inning and an unearned run in the second, but the Seahawks drew even in the third on a RBI single by Gavin Stupienski. Alec Byrd allowed just a hit and struck out eight in 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the Seminoles to pick up his first win of the season.

Saturday, February 28th
Florida State scored a pair of unearned runs in a 3-run eighth inning to rally past UNC-Wilmington on Saturday. After Gage West tied the game with a RBI single, Ben DeLuzio put the Seminoles ahead for good by scoring on a passed ball. John Sansone went 2-for-5 with a home run and a pair of RBIs for the Seminoles while Terence Connelly had two of the Seahawks’ five hits and a pair of runs. Dylan Silva picked up the win to improve to 2-0 on the season for Florida State. Billy Strode struck out the side in the ninth to earn his fourth save.

Sunday, March 1st
Florida State didn’t score after the fourth inning, but touched home nine times and pounded out 11 hits to complete the series sweep of the Seahawks. Taylor Walls and Gage West each had three hits for FSU while D.J. Stewart homered for the second time in three days. UNC-Wilmington first baseman Gavin Stupienski went 4-for-5 with a home run and four runs scored while Luke Dunlap drove in three runs. The Seahawks pushed a run across the ninth inning, but with the go-ahead run on base, Florida State’s Billy Strode struck out the final two batters to collect his third save of the series and fifth of the season.
