FSU Baseball Player of the Week: Quincy Nieporte

As was the case in the ACC Tournament, pitching continued to be outstanding for Florida State, but perhaps the biggest reason the Seminoles were able to go 3-0 at the Tallahassee Regional and advance to the Super Regional was timely hitting.

The Florida State Baseball Player of the Week for the Tallahassee Regional is first baseman Quincy Nieporte, who delivered critical home runs against College of Charleston on Saturday and Monday.

Nieporte went just 3-for-12 for FSU during the regional, but homered twice and drove in five runs over the three games. After going 0-for-4 against Mercer on Friday night, Nieporte broke a 2-2 tie with a solo home run in the bottom of the 8th on Saturday to give the Seminoles a 3-2 win over College of Charleston.

Against the Cougars again on Monday, Nieporte went 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Nieporte had a RBI single during a 3-run third inning before blasting a 3-run home run in the fifth to double the FSU lead from 3-0 to 6-0 in what would eventually be an 8-1 win.

After transferring from Tallahassee Community College, Nieporte has made a huge impact in his first season with the Seminoles. Nieporte ranks second on the team with a .290 batting average and 46 RBIs. Of his seven home runs, two have been game-winners including a walk-off on April 14th against a Florida squad the Seminoles will face in the Super Regional.
