Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week: Jayce Boyd

The Professio”Nole” Athlete of the week for the week of July 7th through the 13th goes to minor league first baseman Jayce Boyd. Though Boyd was not invited to the MLB Futures Game like his former teammate, James Ramsey, it was a stellar week for the Mets’ farm-hand.

In four games this week for the Double-A Binghamton Mets, Boyd batted .500, going 7-for-14 at the plate. Over those four games, Boyd scored four runs and drove in five more which included a solo home run in a 7-3 loss to the Erie Seawolves on Saturday. Boyd had a pair of 3-hit games during the week and has now reached base safely in 10 straight games.

Boyd now has four homers and 32 RBIs on the season and has appeared in 77 of the Mets’ 95 games. Boyd is also one of the reasons why Binghamton is currently 19 games over the .500 mark.
